Around the world in 80 days
The story begins in London on October 2, 1872. Phileas Fogg was an English aristocrat who lived in her home, 7 Saville Row in Burlington Gardens. Even though he was very wealthy, of whom no one knows where he came from, Mr. Fogg was said to be a modest man with all his habits which he carried out with mathematical precision. As can be understood in the first chapter of this book, he is a member of the Reform Club, a club that contains nobles and other dignitaries in England. Fogg fired his aide, James Foster, for giving him shaving water that was 84 degrees Fahrenheit instead of the 86 he should have. That same day, Mr. Fogg received a new maid. The new maid is a French named Jean Passepartout and is about 30 years old.
